Inspiration, creative practice

I am an artist and teacher of Visual Art. In the past I have painted a lot of portraits with flowing cultural patterns, a comment on our mixed society and our inner spiritual being peering through the eyes of our beautiful outer shell. When I moved to Tasmania I began to explore the landscapes of Tasmania and micro landscapes reflected in intertidal rock pools. My Art is now moving towards a more abstract expression combining playful drawings with my love for painting fresh colour mixes and recognizable emerging shapes.

I love the thought process behind the creation of art. I paint in oils and acrylics and use only primary paints in my palette to mix every colour in my works. I am interested investigating the time honoured rules which have been used to seek to describe beauty, but also falling into the serendipitous nature of Art Creation. I believe painting should be a tacit reminder if the connection between beauty and the divine.
